Looking out the window I am able to witness with curious eyes,
those “little rats with cute outfits” that all they do is run.
Are they competing while they gather? The most nuts wins the prize?
Are they playing up and down the trees like kiddos at a park?
But they barely seem to stop, unless staring at stranger…
Although ignoring than from a window, a stranger spies completely jealous.
Maybe the stranger is procrastinating on her many life to-dos.
And the squirrel’s playful freedom, she would want to have for sure.
They live rent -free and their organic food, just doesn’t break the bank.
Their job is cut out for them and they don’t interview to have a chance.
Agile they run around, when the stranger often lacks…
the motivation to get on a treadmill and get some exercise.
But now it is when I remember that nature has wired us all,
to take care of one another with unique skills and roles.
I may not be frolicking, free around the grass…
But I am able to write this poem and freely laugh at large,
at my silly life comparisons when work is not that fun 🙂
